MSFCA Life Member Passes - Former Fergus Falls Fire Chief
Kenneth Hovland, 91 of Fergus Falls died Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. Ken began a long career with the Fergus Falls Fire Department from May 1946 through December 1985. He was the secretary/treasurer for Northwest Regional Firefighters Association for 25 years. He was a life member of the MN State Fire Chiefs Association. Ken served as Regional Director of Minnesota State Fire Department Association for 21 years and also was their treasurer for 8 years. Ken was the first full-time Fire Chief to serve the city of Fergus Falls, which he did for 25 years.

Advanced Hazard Zone Training - Free of Charge - June 20, 2013
SBM Fire will be hosting three sessions on simulation training featuring CommandSim with review of Blue Card and our L3 Driving Simulator. There will be three sessions offered which includes a working lunch or dinner. The speaker during lunch and dinner will be Chief Richard Gasaway who will be talking about Situational Awareness as it related to incident management.

Board of Directors Recommends Major Changes to the Bylaws
After a year of work by the Bylaws Committee and multiple discussions by the board, major changes are being proposed in the association’s bylaws. The proposed changes will be considered for adoption at the conference membership meeting in October. The proposed changes and a resolution recommending adoption are available for viewing and downloading.

The Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association’s Kitchen Fire Safety Trailers are stocked and ready for rental. Reservations for rentals may be taken by contacting one of the two host agencies. The trailers are rented on a first come first serve basis.
