West Central Region 9 Meeting

September 2012

The West Central meeting was held in Vesta, Minnesota on September 17, 2012.

A welcome was given by the Chief Travis Welch.

The secretary and treasurer reports were read and approved.

There was no old or new business

MSFCA Representative Marty Dirnberger talked about the conference that was coming up on Oct 18-20, and also the training dollars that need to be used.

MSFDA talked on the summer conference coming up in June.

Steve Kellen talked about the latest fires and where the fire deaths were occurring.

Jerry Rosendahl, State Fire Marshal discussed the money from state, and the changes in the fire inspectors in the state. Jerry also discussed the firefighter memorial dedication that was going to be held on September 30, 2012 at the capital.

Our guest speaker was the Department of Public Safety Commissioner Ramona Dohman.  Due to this being her home town, it was very special to be invited to speak. Commissioner Dohman spoke on the fire safety account, and that there should be more use of this money.

Bruce West from the MBFFE talked on all the new ways that the money can be used.

Bart from the Technical College discussed on the new Firefighter I & I classes that will be starting up in January.

The next meeting will hosted by Watson on the 19^th of November at the Montevideo VFW. There will be some special awards that night. Supper will begin at 7:30, followed by the meeting at 8:00.

January 2012 MSFCA Board Meeting Report

We had a meeting on Monday night in St Leo. There were 70 members with 5 towns. There was no speaker. I talked on the Officers conformance in Alexandra. Brought up the capital day, and stated the memorial foundation had made their goal. The MSFDA rep. talked on their relief issues. Minnesota  West was there and talked on class and the need to use the money from the state. The next meeting is in Tauton on May 21st.
