Last Board meeting was held on January 26th in St. Cloud. The Assn. has a Bullex Cooking Trailer. The Fire Officer School in Alexandria had 209 attendees, double from last year. The next year training will be held on the same weekend. All of the names for the memorial services need to have been members of the MSFCA. All names are due by September 1st for the October conference. The Assn. is looking for a marketing firm. Chief Esbensen will be attending the County Chief Assn. to seek members to join the IAFC. Their conference will be held in August in Chicago. The Assn. retreat will be held on April 5th and 6th.
State Fire Marshall:
Ron Rahman gave the report. Only 9 FD’s did not report to the State in 2012. The State Fire Marshall conference will be held on April 10th & 11th. The 2012 Fatal Fire statistics are at 50, still waiting for the final information. The 2013 fatal fire count is at 5.
Staff update: They have a new Fire Inspector in the NE part of the State and another one in the Alexandria area and to the west. The SFM is looking at some major retirements in 2013. Jerry Rosendahl will be retiring on December 31, 2013.
If you have a fire or other incident with one of your firefighters or city leaders you should have an outside agency to the investigation. The SFM is willing to do this.
Certification Board Mark Morse:
Dave Schliek reported on the IFSAC site visit and changes that are needed. In 2012 there were 2,139 certifications issued. 150 tests were given in the past 2 years. For 2013 the FF1 and FF2 tests will be given in three tests instead of two. Better test passing rates with this system.
