Administrative Support Track Session

Thursday, October 16 | 8:30 am - 2:00 pm | 2025 Annual Conference

Learning Objectives:

  • Mental Health: Emotional Wellness Deep-Dive – This class helps de-stigmatize talking about mental health in your department, as well as provides practical information around how to properly debrief after a difficult call with your team, ways to maintain emotional well-being and what resources are available to anyone who needs help.

  • Community Risk Reduction: You've heard of Community Risk Reduction, but what does it mean?  In this session, learn how the State Fire Marshal division is addressing Community Risk Reduction at a state level and how it can be applied to the local level.

  • Master Class: Practical Report Writing & Data Tools for Public Safety Leaders: This interactive master class will equip participants with the essential skills needed to turn data into actionable insights. We’ll begin with the fundamentals of effective report writing—how to structure, present, and communicate information clearly. From there, we’ll dive into practical Excel techniques, including pivot tables, and introduce core Power BI concepts to enhance data visualization and analysis. Participants will also learn how to create ad hoc reports in First Due—but lessons learned in this particular vendor's application will apply across most reporting platforms.

The session will conclude with dedicated time for Q&A, as well as a collaborative “report lab,” where attendees can bring reports they are currently developing or challenges they are facing. Together, we’ll build, refine, and troubleshoot in real time so participants leave with both new knowledge and practical solutions they can immediately apply.

  • Round Table Discussion:
    • Discussion on what each department is doing, job descriptions and general discussion on administration duties.

Administrative Support Track attendees are also welcome to attend the Vendor Show and Friday sessions at no cost.
